KEEN Chandler CNX Shoe (Toddler/Little Kid/Big Kid)

I am only giving the shoe one star because the shoe we received is not what is pictured. The green and blue toddler shoe in the picture has a Velcro strap. The one received has the bungee strap.

My five year old wore these for just two months before holes started to develop int he material above the big toe joint. The material changes from a faux leather to a mesh at this point, and causes stress. Unlike their sandals that last forever, stay away from these shoes.

Solid warm weather hiking shoe. My son hikes with us frequently and is now three. We are trying to get him out of the carrier and moving those legs! We tested them in Silverthorne area of Colorado. We showed up to scattered showers all weekend. NOT WATERPROOF OR WATER RESISTANT. I knew when I bought them they wouldn't be waterproof but I thought they might be somewhat water resistant. My son was in the carrier on a misty/light shower 6 mile hike. His feet were soaked and he never was walking on the ground. This shoe excels well in more dry and hot climates. If you will be hiking anywhere where light showers are common then I wouldn't recommend them. Other than the water issue, these are good shoes. Light weight but still have a solid sole on them without being to clumpy. All in all I like them and will have my son wear them when I know water won't be an issue.

My son has the hardest time with shoes because his ankles roll in without correct support. These bungee laces are perfect for him and keep the shoe from buckling yet provide flexibility. They are exactly what I was looking for. He's a size 5 - 5.5 in sneakers and we got a 5 and fit great. We got these for an upcoming camping trip, but expect that he will wear them to school through the winter. Exactly what we wanted and he loves them! Highly recommend.
