Check this sizing info carefully
I have a number of neck gaiters which I am using until my N95 face mask / COVID19 arrives. When I got this one.......I noticed that it was so tight I had a hard time getting it on. Then a re-read the sizing info. Most other neck gaiters are "one size fits all." I had ordered a Medium. But the sizes were for Men + boys. So next I ordered a LARGE. I hope that fits better.ps.......Yesterday I got my LARGE in blue. It fits great and will cover my head too.The fabric is very nice, silky polyester. And yes I can breathe through it.

Subtle annoyances
The mask is OK but I do have a few complaints:1. As mentioned in another review the fabric is slick and won't stick to my hair . The part of the mask at the back of the head will slip down if it is higher than the part of the mask at the face. If the face and back of the head parts of the mask are horizontally even, you may have some sun exposure on the ear (see annotated picture) which is true in my case.2. You will notice that the picture shows that is being wore with a shirt that has a collar. There is some neck and frontal skin exposure to the sun if you wear a shirt without a collar. The mask does not bell out at the bottom to better cover the bottom of the neck area. The mask just bunches there.3. I feel it is overpriced for a simple tube shape mask with no contours.

... to the conclusion that Aqua Design products are the best. I've been in the sun since I was ...
I've bought and used a whole host of UPF products and have come to the conclusion that Aqua Design products are the best. I've been in the sun since I was a kid and have had lots of basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas and numerous skin surgery's. I take sun protection seriously and because of these products I still live a very active outdoor life including swimming 3x a week in the ocean while wearing Aqua Design products to protect my skin. I don't know if they designed their products for use in the ocean but they work great for it. I have also spoken to Denise at Aqua Design and she has provided the best customer service you can imagine. Great company, great products, great customer service!

Get XLarge unless you're a really small person.
I'm new to buying these, I bought a total of four in one week last week from four different makers, and for this, I chose "Medium." I've learned from all the brands I've seen -- they ALL run VERY SMALL. I don't think I have a large head or neck, I'm male, kinda skinny. My advice is get XL every time. The one brand I got at the store that was labeled XL fit me fine, and it was the only one I can stand to wear. So bottom line, I took a chance with this one and it's too small at "Medium" but would probably be great at XL.

Way too big
This is a nice thin mask that would probably be comfortable if it wasn't for a few issues:- When I tried the mask on. it slid right over my head and just kind of hung on my nose. It wasn't stretched at all and it wouldn't stay in place as I walked. I'm sure I ordered a size Large but I think I got an XL. When I look at my order details, it shows a size Small which I know I didn't order.-If I pull the back of the mask over the top of my head, I get enough stretch to hold it in place momentarily but it just slides down due to the slick nature of the material. As it is, The mask is basically unusable for me. Unfortunately, Due to COVID-19, the mask is out of stock so returning for a smaller size is not possible.

Heavy Material
I ordered three different brands of face gaiters (i.e. neck and face masks) from Amazon for use outdoors for UV protection and as face masks as needed during the Covid 19 pandemic. Of the three brands I ordered, these Aqua Design gaiters were the most expensive at $20 ea. The others two brands ordered were MCTi ($8 ea.; 2-pack) and BOAO ($5.50 ea.; 3-pack). The Aqua Design gaiters, while the most expensive, are certainly the heaviest and the longest of all three brands. Heavy material which will certainly keep the sun out; I'm not questioning that. I live in Houston and it's HOT in the summer (100 deg. + sometimes) and the Aqua Design gaiters are a bit too heavy for me. Being the longest gaiters purchased, they are a little awkward around my neck to use solely as a face mask as required. The other brands were lighter weight (i.e. cooler) and are shorter (not so bulky around my neck). If you plan on wearing your gaiter as shown in the Aqua Design advertising picture, up over your face and over the back/top of your head, this length is good. But if you're planning on wearing it as a neck gaiter to pull up as needed for a face mask, I suggest a shorter gaiter. And during the summer, a lighter gaiter is nicer too.

Different from a Buff
I haven't worn a Buff in a while because I lost it, but I used to wear it a lot, and I just bought a new one (Buff UV, specifically), so I could directly compare it with this one. They are quite different, with different pluses and minuses. The Aqua Design neck gaiter is of an extremely light and breathable fabric. I have not had a chance to torture test it in harsh weather, but it scores very high on basic comfort. I left it on my neck for 12 hours and completely forgot it was there, and I have very sensitive skin and usually hate synthetics (I'm a merino guy). It is completely possible to breathe unobstructed even with it covering your nose and mouth... air goes through it like it's not there. The fabric is not super-stretchy, but it's stretchy enough to get over your head without discomfort. The biggest downside is that the fabric is extremely slick... so slick that it slides right off my head in any bandana or do-rag configuration, because the fabric is so slick it won't stick to itself and hold a knot, and won't grip my hair or skin. Therefore it can only be used in a configuration and sizing where symmetrical elasticity alone will secure it... as a headband over the ears, as a balaclava, or as a neck gaiter. In contrast, Buff fabric is much more cottony and will hold on my head through friction, and hold a knot, allowing many configurations. But Buff fabric is also no where near as cool and breathable as the Aqua Design. In conclusion, this is a quality product and offers distinctive functionality from the "leading brand", unlike the many cheap knockoffs.
