No strap
A little disappointed, the product description states the strap is present until size 13 little kids, I got a size 10 and 11 Little kid and neither of them have the strap

Runs small. Larger size not available.
Keens fit my son's wide foot really well. Without having to order a special wide width. He has a pair of Newport sandals that he has worn all summer that still have some room, in a size 8. I ordered an 8 in this shoe thinking it would fit the same but they run smaller. (yes we tried them both with and without socks). Unfortunately, Amazon no longer has a 9 in this or any other boy colors of this shoe. I would love to exchange them but may end up returning. I'm ordering a 9 from another retailer to see how they fit.We love the look of this shoe and Keens hold up better than many other brands I've tried.

Great shoe but fits small
This would have been a great shoe for our daughter but it runs small and there is no larger size. The shoe is sturdy yet flexible enough for a toddler.

Fantastic Support, Very Durable, Great For Active Toddlers
My son began walking 3 weeks before his first birthday. On the first day, he took 3 steps. One the second day, he took 11. Six days after that, he walked almost 2 blocks without falling. On his first birthday, he celebrated by walking upstairs.I bought a few pairs of cheap cover-my-feet shoes while I tried to grok the fact that this little person was not just walking, he was running. On the suggestion of the Nordstrom sales person, I bought the Keen Alamosas. My son wore them every single day. They are perfect for Seattle weather. Somewhat waterproof, nice gripping soles but not heavily weighted. Durable - WOW, so durable! I loved the ankle and arch support they gave his little feet as well.Best feature for me was that because they were a little stiffer than other first walker shoes, it was MUCH easier to get his feet into them.If there is one downside, I would say that it was the Velcro. I took these shoes back to Nordstrom about 3 months after buying them because the Velcro closure had completely worn out and would not longer stay shut. They gave me a replacement pair in June and I just last month retired them. Not because of the Velcro but because his foot was too big.Not a complaint but possibly a downside is that these shoes are a little too dense for really warm summer months. His feet got very sweaty.Best shoes I could have hoped to get for new feet.

Nothing wrong with the shoe but Amazon's descriptions is completely off!
These shoes are described as velcro closure up to size 13. This is not true. The velcro closure goes only to size 7. After size 7, they're the toggle-kind with no velcro. Amazon has the wrong photo shown for sizes 8-13. Amazon also needs to correct its bullet point description. It says the velcro comes in sizes up to 13 but it should say up to 7. I ordered one pair and received the toggle closure and was told by Amazon Customer Service that there had been an error in shipping because the shoe in size 8 is as pictured so I was sent a replacement pair. The shoes were supposed to have velcro. They didn't and that confirmed that the Amazon description is wrong. Again, the shoes are fine....just understand that you won't get the velcro closure if you order shoe size 8 or above.

good shoes
I like the strong, solid construction of these shoes. I think they will last a long time, unlike many others we have tried. They are, however, difficult for my son to get on his feet alone. I even have some difficulty getting them on. They don't loosen up enough even when we pull the laces way out. Also, the laces broke within about two weeks. I called the Keen company, and they sent replacements right away. In spite of the issues, if you want to have only one pair of shoes because your son's feet grow really fast, these are the ones.

My girl has very narrow feet so I don't recommend it for Medium or wide feet
these shoe runs small, My girl has very narrow feet so I don't recommend it for Medium or wide feet. Its a little heavy. The quality of the shoe is good. The front doesn't get scratch. My child is been wearing it for about 2 months now and there is no tear or scratch yet. I don't like that its difficult to stretch it when putting it on, so I have to put it on for my child. but overall its a good shoe. It is worth the price.

Keeps Feet Dry During Hikes
My daughter was pining for a pair of these after noticing her siblings' feet staying dry during a hike, and her poor feet getting cold and wet in her gym shoes. She is pretty particular about clothes, shoes and coats, so I wasn't exactly sure these would be a hit, but they are completely. And I thought the laces might be tricky for her since she's just 3 but we showed her a few times and now she has it completely. But once they were here and she was able to use them, she couldn't be happier. She isn't timid about walking through a bit of water on a trail now, worried she will end up with cold feet. Now she just powers through!I personally thought the price tag was a little steep considering how fast she will outgrow them, but we decided that we will use them enough to justify the cost. Try to get them on sale, though, that does happen.Very happy, all my kids wear these now.
