Very effective
Very decent ear plugs . The cream of the crop out of the 1/2 dozen others I’ve tried .

Head Banging Son? No Problem!
One of my son’s favorite bands is Sabaton (https://smile.amazon.com/War-End-All-Wars/dp/B09TW55FY8/). They are a Swedish heavy metal band that produce songs on the history of wars and heroes and battles. They are not glorifying violence or gore, nor are they neo-cons advocating for it. Instead, they look at our history of wars and find the heroes and the battles and the moments that meant something. And they write about those. And then they make albums with those songs on them. And then they go on tour and sign them. Loudly. Very, very loudly. And when my son decided he wanted to go see them live and he needed me to go with him, I pulled out my SureFire EP7 Sonic Defenders and my credit card and bought two tickets in the mosh pit. And they worked like a charm. Sabaton were still loud. I felt the vibrations of the drums and the bass and the guitar trying to shake my entire person apart. And it was glorious. These are incredibly comfortable, incredibly light weight and the only reason I noticed I was wearing them was because my ears were not bleeding. One of the niceties of these that you can get them snugly in for protection and there’s a tiny tab you can pop out to have a conversation. While the opening band wasn’t as loud as Sabaton, they were still loud. And not having to take them out of the ear and reseat them for the main event is a treat. What was even more glorious was the fact that I could carry on a conversation with my son after the concert was over (he had his own pair in!). We could talk about our favorite moments and our favorite songs (mine is Christmas Truce - https://amazon.com/music/player/albums/B09GJN78MV). I would not have been able to enjoy this concert if it weren’t for this ear protection. And everything that I’ve said about listening to music applies to shooting as well. The protection is amazing and being able to pop out the tab to talk between sessions without having to reseat the entire thing is delightful.

Nice Ear Protection
They are comfortable and keeps the noise out. I like that you can link them together and storing them after use is easy. Highly recommended

Foam are MUCH better!
Let me start by saying that I've used the Surefire ear plugs for almost 2 years now for under my motorcycle helmet when I'm riding. I don't use them at the gun range or anything else other than wind noise. When first going with the Surefire's I bought a set of MEDIUM EP4's. These have the rubber "Christmas tree-like" ear pieces. I really like this product and, at first, they fit my ear very well. Unfortunately, they would move around when turning my head with my helmet on. It got to the point that I couldn't keep them in place. Since the ear piece that goes around the ear is great I figured to try a LARGE and ordered the EP3's. These have the same style outer piece, only larger, and a somewhat differently-shaped, rubber ear canal piece. Looks like a tiny mushroom only it bends to "follow" into the ear canal. While these worked better I started noticing the same issue with them sliding around inside of my helmet. In addition, the LARGE outer piece would irritate after a few hours. I guess I can contribute this to my ear canal being large while the outer part of my ear is a medium. So, I've been using the other brands for a few months (the "Christmas tree" type with the string on each end and the longer tube coming out). And although I like these cheaper, more effective rubber ones the fact that the Surefire's fir so well into my ear AND have the noise-reducer, optional plug...I just had to try their foam ear plugs. I just received them today in the mail and could IMMEDIATELY tell the difference! Not only do they fit perfectly but the ambient noises are distinctly reduced, all the while being able to hear voices and other sounds without a muffled sound! I cannot say at this point how well they work while riding a motorcycle and under a helmet but I have a good feeling with these. The foam plug part feels a lot thicker than the rubber ones, thus covers my entire ear canal. I put them in the first time and did NOT have to adjust them. They just slid right in and the noise was reduced. I've pulled them out and put them back in a few times and, so far, every time they simply snug right in! These came with an extra set of foam plugs that can easily be removed from the main unit. I'll be riding tomorrow and unless they don't work any better than the EP4 and EP3's consider this review a 5-star! (If not I will edit my review.) ***UPDATE: After riding a few days with these earplugs...100% better than the EP3 and EP4! With the foam for the ear canal, these Surefire's stay in my larger ear canal! They muffle a lot of wind and engine noise, yet I can still hear my Sena radio nice and clearly! The only issue is more from my helmet, as it's a tight helmet and when I put it on it tends to slide on my ear and pull the Surefire's out. Luckily, I'm able to get a finger through the helmet padding and push them back in. VERY SATISFIED!!!

Quality/Technology of $300+ Ear Plugs at FAR better price!
My husband and I were looking for ear plugs to wear when hunting; we wanted to be able to leave them in for extended periods of time, be able to hear each other when talking in a normal voice, be protected from the loud shot of a rifle, and if possible not spend $300 for the electronic ones we had seen. These were the answer! (Pros) They are comfortable enough in your ear to leave in for extended periods of time. They block noise extremely well when the little flaps/plugs are in, but you can easily pop them open which allows you to hear the people around you and still very effectively muffles out the louder noises of a gun shot... which is how we used them while hunting and we were very happy with them. Also, I loved that they sat inside my ear which allowed me to wear a headband that covered my ears to keep them warm while still having my ear plugs in. (Cons) I will say, they take a bit of time to put in properly. This means getting the whole black plastic/rubber part inside the bowl of the ear where it belongs. It only takes a few seconds, but when you are hunting that can make a big difference...So, if you don't like leaving ear plugs in for extended periods of time and you are looking for a pair to pop in your ear in about one second to make a shot, these may not be for you. Also, if someone near you is whispering, it is a bit difficult to hear them; the person would need to get very close to your ear with the toggle open in order for you to hear them. The cons listed, while I see could be issues for some, were not issues for me. The pros listed were the exact things that I was looking for in ear plugs which is why I believe these truly are 5 star Ear Plugs.

fragile - no case included - surefire support non existent
I recently purchased a set of these as when target shooting rifles outdoors I find full size over the ear protectors to be overkill... and to interfere with my cheek weld on some weapons. I got them and was a little bit dismayed initially that they don't really include any kind of case or pouch. Instead they are seated in a throwaway plastic clamshell that is definitely not a case. No worries, I just throw them in a compartment in my range bag and off I went. They work fairly well and I find them pretty comfortable... however I noticed after getting back that one of the plastic "caps" had popped out of the protector and was nowhere to be found. I'm not sure if this part is the "noise brake" or simply adds the extra 3dB of protection when it is closed. In any event it was frustrating to have lost it knowing that if I had a case for these it likely would not have happened. I contacted Surefire via their "contact us" technical support email form over a month ago asking if I could at least purchase some spares as I had lost one of mine and didn't want to have to buy another $20 set of protectors... I have never heard back from them. Apparently business is good and they don't need repeat customers.

Easy to insert and comfortable
Comfortable and easy to insert. I had the silicone tree style sonic defenders which also worked great but foams just work best for my ears - doesn't feel like an alien is trying to probe my ears with a Christmas tree. One word to the wise - on an elk hunt in 30 degree weather, if these are out in the elements around your neck, these foam earplugs will stiffen up quite a bit, so I highly recommend you keep them tucked into your shirt until you are ready to throw them in your ears, otherwise they won't fit like they do at the range or at home.

Great for motorcycle rides!
I am not going into how great these are for a range (in/out doors). However, I want to comment on how useful these are for riding a motorcycle. Clearly, road and wind noises are harmful to your ears and hearing. At the same time, you cannot block _all_ the sounds as it becomes dangerous by lowering your situational awareness. These plugs are solid and works very well just for this purpose! They are sealing your ear canal good enough to eliminate the wind noise and by lowering the level of other sounds they make your ride really enjoyable either on a freeway or a country road. Highly recommend!
