Surprise! It's the new edition!
I was initially very disappointed to see that the latest version of this map that Amazon was selling was this 2008 version, when I knew that there was an updated 2014 version available. I called Amazon to see if they could get the new version in stock fairly quickly, but their poorly informed customer service people basically said there was nothing they could do. Since time was getting short to order through some other source, I reluctantly ordered the 2008 version, figuring it would be good enough for my needs on this trip.I was very pleasantly surprised to actually receive the new 2014 edition! Our friends at Amazon need to update their listing. As others have reported, it is very detailed, contains large-scale inset maps of Guatemala City and its surrounding area, as well as Antigua Guatemala, and the paper appears to be of good quality. It has a coating that makes water bead up and run off, so their statement about the map being waterproof appears to be correct. Highly recommended.

Excellent and needed map of Guatemala.
This map lists every city, town, and village in Guatemala. It is a great map, but the type is so small you will needa magnifying glass. My friend and I located villages not onany other map. It is very large and printed on both side.Anyone who thinks Guatemala is a small country won'tthink so after studying this map. The map of GuatemalaCty is not detailed enough and you will need a regularcity map. That is to be expected.

Good Map
I bought this map for a motorcycle trip through Guatemala. The map is as sturdy as they come. The man we rented the motorcycles from in Antigua was impressed by the detail and wanted to know where he could buy one like it. I gave it a bit of a low rating though because it is still not really adequate for what we did. We were constantly lost and had to rely heavily on other sources to find our way around. Not being able to speak Spanish, I was hoping the map would be more precise than it was. Few of the back roads that we road on were shown on the map, and the ones that were shown were not accurate. There's probably not a better map out there though. I did this trip a few years ago, but if I did it again I would just use my phones GPS. There's plenty of wi-fi in the main towns for you to download maps online, to then access while out on the road.

very good map
I bought this map before going to Guatemala to visit my son and his girlfriend who live there. The map was very helpful and the material it is printed on makes it very durable. My son hadn't seen such a good map of their country, so I left it with them. (I can buy another copy before my next visit.) The only "down" side was that the map happened to "break" right in the part of the country near where they live. But all the information was very clear and detailed.

Good map. We rented a car and drove all over the place, the map proved accurate and helpful. Note that if you are going to drive around the country, you should find more detailed city maps to go along with this one, to cover you in any towns of any particular size that you might find yourself in. Guidebook maps often only have the center of town.

Guatemala map
This map is somewhat adequate. The Amazon service was fine. The map arrived on time and in good shape. The map itself is a little hard to follow. Guatemala is a very mountainous country but you can't tell that from the map. Therefore it would be hard to plan a trip using the map as you would not know which roads are slow-going and which are more straight. This was the only map I could find but there must be others. I will keep looking.

Probably the best (easily available) map of Guatemala for backpacking
I have both this map and the Reise map and compared it to the National Geographic map on the website, keep in mind that no map that I found of Guatemala is perfect. On both maps I discovered some inaccuracies with highway 9 around Coban (compared to official information) but the rest of the map looks correct to me. I must say that other maps (reise, national geographic) give a better overview and are a bit easier to read because they use different (and larger) font sizes, more colors and reliëf (contour lines). But I believe this map is better for actually taking with you on your trip. It has a mini map of Guatemala and Antigua which is very helpful, and around Lake Atitlan it has a lot of coffee farms (finca's) that are not present on other maps. When comparing maps this one seems to have the most accurate road network even though it is the oldest and it has a clear distinction between the different types of roads.

Worse than useless
We'd still be driving from Atitlan to the coast if we'd relied on this map. Information out of date. Scale too small. Save your money and buy a Claro SIM card instead! Nice looking waterproof map though. Great for use in the bath.

pas mal !
la carte est trés solide (indéchirable) mais la présentation en 2 moitiés recto verso est peu pratique car elle ne permet pas une vision d'ensemble du pays.
