MEN'S SIZING!
Definately, these are men's size skates. I concur and empathize with the others who found this skate to be wide around the ENTIRE foot as well, that said, I'm absolutely thrilled! For a female who has wider feet, I have always had the issue that in order for me to keep my feet warm, I had to get a larger size and have my heels slip up or get my size and feel squeezed and cold. It was what it was, just something I had no choice in other than buy men's black hockey skates, NEVER would do that as a teenager😁.Finally, at age 50, I moved back north from Florida, and I actually have a 'women's' skate that fits ME! I don't see anything that resembles nubuck, it's actually got a brushed sheen textured vinyl and an antique white color. It's a VERY stiff boot as well, good support, but a little more time spent snugging and lacing them up.So you gals with wide feet rejoice, you will be pleased. I now take a size ~9.5-10 and I ordered a 9. I was a bit nervous doing this but that's what everyone said, order a size smaller. There is good toe room and very comfortable. These are substantial skates, not flimsy by any means. I recommend them for the wider feet gals! Not sure why they sized these like they did, doesn't make sense to me, but a big thanks to all the first reviewers!

Looks like a good basic skate
I read almost every review of every skate sold on Amazon in the Beginner range for my daughter (age almost 11). Her foot measures 9 2/3 inches (women's' size 6-8 depending on shoe type/manufacturer) and using a size chart I googled for Lake Placid skates, I determined her boot size to be a size 7 but hedging on the larger side of her size range. She also has a wide foot. The boots look very sturdy and well constructed. The padding is thick and athletic shoe-like. My daughter says they feel comfortable laced while wearing a thick wool sock. There is ample room in the toe box both length and width. I am not sure if we will get two years out of these or not, but I am willing to pay a bit more to have a good skate for her feet. The blades are NOT SHARP. They must be sharpened first. We have pro shop nearby and will take care of that.Based on what I saw, I'd say these are better than rentals.

did not like the fit or the look of this boot
I was hoping this skate would be very comfortable as my daughter has a bit of a wide foot (in the toe area), and having read the reviews which seemed to point out that this skate would be wide. The boot was wide the entire length of the foot ,,,, and very muchso,,,,, felt sloppy on the foot, and would have been difficult to skate in. Didn't care for the look of the boot when we got it either,,,,kind of a shiny material,,, and looks like a boot,,,,, it appears large ,,, doesn't really have the look of a figure skateI do think this skate would be very nice for someone who likes to skate with very thick socks, and is primarily concerned with keeping their feet warm while they skate. Your feet would be toasty in this boot,,,,, it is well padded and warm.We didn't care for it, and sent it back

Not as comfortable as Softec
I was looking for replacements for Softec ice skates, but I was disappointed that these were not nearly as comfortable. They are still more comfortable than the usual skate boot, but in hindsight, I should have spent a little bit more money for the Softecs. These run a bit on the large side, but you can compensate by wearing two pairs of thick socks.

Great skates for a great price.
Had bought a size 8, which I wear in shoes...also had gone with the reviews that said it runs big. They did not run big to me. I would not have been able to wear more than one pair of socks and I skate outdoors so need the extra warmth. I like two pairs of socks for comfort also. I had tried the Jackson ice skates that someone recommended as really good skates. They were too small and too much padding around the ankles, also like standing on a rock. This pair I can put a insole in for extra comfort but they feel better than the more expensive pair. I haven't been able to actually skate in them as it warmed up and our ice pond is gone but there is next season. Recommend this skate and they will fit like your shoe size so if you want an extra pair of socks in them, order a size up. I like the support around the ankle, it's not a lot of padding but don't need it.

Comfy, Economical, and Timely
How do I begin to describe Lake Placid Supreme Women's soft boot figure ice skates?Lake Placid's women's boots are flawless.I hear they are the most economical choice on the market.I think they offer the best support I have yet received from an ice skate... and I've taken lessons! My favorite size is size 5.One time, I went skating in them with friends, and they told me they looked pretty! One time I fell flat on my butt in them ... it was awesome!-courtesy of Mean GirlsBut really these were great. They arrived on time and they were already sharp. I'm normally anywhere between a 6 and a half and a 7 in women's shoes, but the size 5 is still SLIGHTLY too big (nothing heavy socks won't cure).

Love it!
I ordered this skates as "Used - Like New" and received new skates in original package, but paid twice less for it!My every day shoe size is 7.5-8, but I ordered size 7 (based on other reviews) and I am glad I did! I still have room for thick socks. The sticker on the box says USA size 7, EU size 38, UK 6, JPN 26, but I think it's incorrect. I would never fit in any size 7 shoes! And it clear if I would get size 8, it will be way too big for me! Also, this skates are on the wider side.As for skates itself, looks like the quality is very good. It fits me better than rentals I was using before. These skates are VERY warm, it even says on the package. I don't think it would be a problem though since it's always cold on the ice.If you are an advanced skates, you might need to look for something else, but these are great for people who skates occasionally.
