The ASUS TUF X870-PLUS WiFi motherboard has been an excellent foundation for my build. It is currently powering a Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with 64GB of Corsair Dominator DDR5 6000MHz CL30 memory, an RTX 5070 Ti, and a PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD, and it has handled everything flawlessly. Right out of the box, it feels extremely high quality, with solid components and a very robust power delivery design that inspires confidence, especially for higher-end Ryzen CPUs. Some of my favorite features are the EZ Debug LEDs, which make troubleshooting incredibly easy, and the tool-less M.2 latch, which makes installing NVMe drives quick and hassle-free. The BIOS is also a standout—it’s clean, easy to navigate, and packed with a plethora of tweaks and settings for anyone who wants to fine-tune their system, whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced user. Enabling EXPO for my RAM was quick and painless, and everything worked perfectly on the first try. ASUS also includes great extras like AI overclocking, which is fun to experiment with and easy to use for light tuning. I have my PCIe Gen 5 NVMe installed in the M.2_1 slot, which allows the graphics card to continue running at full x16 bandwidth. It’s worth noting that if you want your GPU to run at full x16, you should avoid using the M.2_2 slot, as it shares PCIe lanes with the primary PCIe slot. Overall, this board offers an excellent balance of performance, features, and build quality. It has everything you would need for a high-end gaming PC while also being perfectly suited for everyday use. For the price, it delivers fantastic value and fully lives up to the TUF Gaming reputation for reliability and durability.

Used this to build AMD Ryzen 9. Nov 2025: Amazing this thing has full support of all components using latest Ubuntu (24.04). I bought an ASUS board some years ago and it didn't work well with Linux, no bluetooth and other various quirks. Also I read that this board would have Wifi and bluetooth not supported without additional hardware/drivers. Really I haven't tested the audio yet but it should be just fine. Wifi and Bluetooth fully functional right out-of-the-box without any additional drivers. What a nice surprise. The board looks great, runs great and was fun to build. Wifi speeds are now through the roof. I did have an issue with the Asus junk antenna that came with one of their older gaming boards that I bought. Because of that, I was reluctant to choose Asus this time but after reading reviews on many other boards, it seemed the only choice. The upgraded Wifi7 antenna that came with this board is impressive and not feeling like junk at all.

Was able to get linux working on this pretty well, had to change the settings for secure boot away from Windows. The its a pretty bare bones, no thrills kinda motherboard but what you do get is pretty nice, lots of PCIe5 lanes, nice build quality, and pretty good heatsinks. The bios update/rollback feature worked well for me, I was able to update the bios with a jump drive without even booting it up, so that was nice. The amount of USB connections was adequate and M.2 was great, but I would've still preferred more sata connections, it only sports two. I have an optical drive, front panel, and a big magnetic drive I wish I could rope into the system, but regardless, this is definitely a forward leaning motherboard.

Coming from a higher end motherboard on an 9th gen i9 I was a bit spoiled so it docked a star but don’t let this fool you. The motherboard is beautiful, just the right amount of rgb and the white just looks incredible with the metal. One of my favorite features on these higher end motherboards is the push to start button. No more having to manually short the pins to see if everything’s working fine. Another of my favorite features on this motherboard is the tool less nvme access so easy to plug in a drive and remove! Bought this mainly cause I was getting a ram issue on my other motherboard (Msi) and I’m just more used to asus products. Worked great be moment I popped it in, definitely recommend. The DP to usb was incredibly useful as well since I was able to use a portable monitor while diagnosing instead of unplugging my current build. Now here’s the reason I docked a star unfortunately I was very used to my old motherboard having a number code on a led in the top right showing me what’s wrong with the boot process. This being “led” lights definitely took me back because diagnosing what was wrong became a little more difficult than I’m used to. But in the end. I 100% recommend.

Excellent motherboard at a great price, easy installation without any problems, I installed a Ryzen 9 9800x3D processor on it with liquid cooling and an RTX 5070 graphics card and it works great, it has enough connections for fans and ARGB connections, I am happy with the purchase

I've been using the ROG X870-A for some time now. Its design is excellent. The clean white and silver theme perfectly complements modern gaming setups, especially for building a white-themed PC. It looks very premium and is well-built. I like its BIOS and features. The BIOS is easy to navigate, even for non-expert users. It comes with plenty of USB ports and M.2 slots, so expanding storage or adding peripherals is not a problem.

The mobo looks great, it is good quality. And zero compatibility issues with it. Paired with my r7 9800x3d. It worked just fine right out of the box. Yeah I need a bios update but it was just so easy and convenient. Advantage is you don't even need m.2 ssd coolers. Can have 4 m.2 ssd. And so many usb ports. I don't even see a reason to cheap out on that mobo. It was 30% off when I bought it, if it is still 30% off. Do the jump. (Had a DOA from MC and live too far from it to justify going back for an exchange and the RMA process is painful. So I am glad I pulled the trigger on this one. ) Get a better cpu bracket to prevent bent pins on any am5 mobo.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I was building a powerful PC. I bought an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and G.SKILL Trident Z5 Royal DDR5-6400 CL32 RAM, 2x48 GB. Everything works perfectly together. I've been using it for about four months now and have had no problems. I'm happy with the abundance of ports in the back and the 10 GB ports. I spent a long time choosing a motherboard and chose this one, and I haven't regretted it. If you're also looking for a motherboard, get this one, you won't regret it. It has a slot for an NVMe SSD covered by a massive heatsink. I installed my system SSD there. There are also four additional SSD slots, all under one large heatsink. However, I don't recommend installing all four additional cards, as it limits the PCE. Use only three additional slots, leaving the fourth empty. Then the PCE will operate at full capacity with the graphics card. An important criterion was the presence of a second PCE slot, and everything works perfectly. I can connect a second graphics card, but only a single-layer one. I'm using a Radeon WX5100. The motherboard also has a built-in video output, which doesn't work out of the box, but can be enabled in the BIOS. GPT chat said the video output would never work, but it does. The BIOS is very user-friendly and has all the translation languages, and everything is configured simply and easily. You'll also need to enable 6400 RAM support in the BIOS because the default is 5200. I had to fiddle a bit with the Windows installation because an error popped up, but then I adjusted something in the BIOS and everything went smoothly. I think I disabled 6400 support during installation, and then turned it back on.
