Useful for helping elderly mother at home
I bought this using Amazon Prime to help out my 80 year old mother, who does not have a bathroom on the first floor. She recently has much difficulty walking and getting up the stairs to use the bathroom was becoming increasingly difficult (if not impossible). We've contracted for a new bathroom on the first floor, but until it gets done, we were in a dilemma. Mom used a commode on the first floor, but only as a last resort. I bought this toilet with the hope it would give her a little more dignity than the commode. It has succeeded. I ordered on a Friday and it arrived the following Tuesday. It has been in full usage for a little over a week. It was easy to set up, but too low for her. We built a frame to go around it that elevated it another three and a half inches, to a total of 19 inches. Mom can use her walker and sit securely and safely on this toilet. She's a pretty tiny person, so I'm not sure how this would work with a large person. With arthritis however, she cannot use the flush mechanism, which involves bending a little and pulling out a a lever. Not a real problem, as we just flush it for her when we need to. It did not come with the sample of Liquid Gold deodorant that was stated in the description, so for the first two days I used it without any chemical as I didn't know where to get it. It worked ok without chemical, but it was stinky and nothing broke down (like the toilet paper). So I emptied it twice a day. I found chemicals for the toilet (not the Liquid Gold that's recommended) at a Marine/RV section of a local hardware store. I use Aqua Kem and it works great. Breaks down the waste and the toilet paper (mostly). I am emptying every two days into a toilet (Flushing multiple times). I could let it go longer than that, but it does get heavy with water/waste in the bottom. Overall, I am extremely happy to have this. There is little to no odor, Mom likes using it a million times better than the commode, and it's helped us out immensely. Until the new bathroom is completed, this is a welcome addition to the household.

Nearly perfect IF you follow directions...
We got this potty to keep in van that we are converting to camper. Our 4 year old loves it. With the novelty of this being in the van he uses it almost every time he gets in. It is simple enough, that he can do everything from pumping the water to flushing it. It's been a lifesaver since we don't have to stress about finding a bathroom when we hear "Daddy, I have to go potty REALLY BADLY!" from the back seat. Now we just have to find a place to pull over. Really speeds up interstate trips as you just pull to the side of the road for a couple of minutes. Both I and my wife have used it too. Really handy at times. Seems to be very sturdily constructed. Being in the back of our van, it tends to get 'catapulted' when we hit hard bumps. It has ended up upside down twice now, but not a drop of 'black water' has leaked. The top tank leaks when it flops over but it's just water so no big deal. The falling over part is strictly our fault as it is in the very back of a long van, so there is a lot of upward leverage when hitting bumps. I can't see any way they could engineer it better to prevent tipovers. It also does not smell, AT ALL. It has a completely air-tight seal on the black water tank when closed. See below for more details on this. Emptying the tank is pretty easy. I didn't bother to use the attached pipe and just removed the cap and poured it in the toilet. I highly recommend degradable toilet paper to make this job easier. The only 2 downsides I've seen are: 1) that it leaks just a little bit of water from the fill (clean water) tank during normal driving. Short of putting a balloon over the vent cap (and removing it when pumping), I don't see how that will be stopped. It's just a few drops of clean water so it doesn't really matter. 2) in the instructions it says to make sure the top lid is closed when you pull the flush handle. IGNORE THIS RULE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! The 'black water' tank seals so well (won't leak when upside down remember?) that it will tend to pressurize over time (methane gas production, hot air expansion, etc..). It will even cause the underside of the black water tank to bulge outward slightly over time. If you pull the flush lever when it has a lot of pressure inside, it can result in a big bubble of air that shoots upwards through the pool of 'black water' you just created, that is about to go into the lower tank. The resulting 'wet mist' will leave you shuddering and trying not to think about the mechanics of 'particle transfer'... Overall, I highly recommend this potty. Well worth the money.

You gotta do what you gotta do
OK, so my original scheme was to use this porta-potty and a Grand Trunk handy dandy privacy shelter and set up an outside latrine so that my wife and I could use the RV at a private campsite during the winter....dry that is...without adding water to the RV system during the freezing weather. The good news is the porta-potty works great....the bad news is there was no way in hell my wife was going to sit on this thing outside in the dead of winter....so the porta-potty wound up inside the RV...OK we've been married 30 years...no big deal. Fortunately the porta-potty works great....no fuss. It's a bit dicey to haul this thing full....water...and (ahem!) waste is pretty heavy, particularly squeezing around the tight innards of the RV. Again good news, the porta-potty fresh and waste tanks separate and the waste tank is...so far....water tight. We've used it for a two-day weekend on one "run", but my advice is to empty it once a day and save yourself the anguish. Also, invest in some good toilet deodorant.

We bought this for our small sail boat. The difference between a Marine unit and an RV or camping unit is a hold down system. I researched alot, and considering this unit identifies itself as a marine unit, it should have hold downs, for the lower tank. It does not. It will be returned, unless the seller can rectify my problem. Or tell me what additional parts I may need to order.

While not the best poop I've ever had, it was certainly up there. This potty coupled with the sounds of nature was great. Simple to use and dumping it wasn't the horrific experience I was expecting it to be.

This was a simple replacement for an older version we had in our boat. The mounting hardware was in a different spot but the connections were the same. Simple.

Just a inch shorter than a conventional toilet. Many reviews spoke of the small size. A simple compromise. We loved it. Sturdy, we'll made, quality material. Disconnects easily and reconnects there after. Waste easily pours out. Cleans well. Hand pump worked well reaching the entire bowl. No leaking issues what so ever. No smell escapes the seal. Use the liquid additive to help the whole process. We are very happy with choice. There is a lot out there. We highly recommend this item.

Dommage. Peux supporter 200 lbs et plus.
